...and now for some photography! :dance:

From my family's Lord Howe Island trip last year, Ball's Pyramid is probably the most remote part of Australia I've ever been to; its sheer remoteness (a 40 minute boat ride south of Lord Howe) and scale blew my breath away! It's the tallest offshore 'scarp in the world, rising 562m from the ocean straight into the sky.
It's also had an interesting history; renowned entrepreneur Dick Smith & his team were the first to scale it in 1963, later beaten to the top in the following year.
It was also the last refuge for a unique species of phasmid (stick insect) until recently, with subsequent successful breeding on the mainland leading to its reintroduction back on Lord Howe just after we left.

I would strongly recommend this trip, it's truly awe-inspiring and one of the best-kept tourist secrets in Australia!

thanks postaldude, personally whenever i'm bored at work nowdays i always think back to lord howe- it's truly otherworldly out there :D
